TONY WELSH
ASSOCIATE PARTNER, PRACTICE LEAD - STRATEGIC ICT
Tony is a 15 year Chief Information Officer (CIO) veteran with over 30 years ICT experience in Australia, the UK and New Zealand. He spent 6 years as CIO on the Senior Executive Team for Brisbane City Council and he was previously CIO at Queensland Rail.
Tony is passionate about creating business value from ICT. This starts with evolving or transforming ICT Departments into business and customer focused teams with a commitment to service excellence. He gets frustrated when ICT is seen as a barrier or even worse, an ivory tower that sees a need to obstruct efforts by organisations to do things better.
Tony believes that ICT is a business tool. The ICT team must position itself to empower and enable the organisation to best leverage that tool to achieve its business vision and objectives. In doing so it may be sourced internally or externally or it might reside extensively in the cloud. It might be a service provider or a service broker or a mixture of both. In any event it must be responsive and agile to meet the needs and expectations of its customers in a rapidly changing world.
